Outside the Box-Blog

Digital signage is something seen quite often in the modern world. You probably aren’t wowed by standard LED video display presentations anymore. But there is much more to digital signage than standard video walls or single rectangle displays. With advances in LED display product offerings, Digital signage can take on a whole new form and offer an upscale, sophisticated presence as architectural art with digital content playback capabilities. Displays can blend in or stand out in a variety of applications, offering a look that is beyond the norm.

Marrying Beauty and Practicality

Digital signage solutions, at its roots, is all about communicating with an audience. As a means to disperse messages, this offers architects and designers an ever-changeable canvas. But, it needs to be a complement to space as well. It must look purposeful, rather than an afterthought. To integrate into a setting should not be seen as a limitation. You can do more with the way and shape that signage is installed, delivering beauty, while also delivering the practicality as a communications channel. For example, you could use stunning animated visuals like flowers blooming, snow falling, waterfalls rushing, or clouds parting. This type of content will draw in users with its beauty. You have their attention now, so subtly tie in some relatable message to the visuals.

New Shapes Break the Box

There are many more options to build out displays than ever before. Choose various size screens that allow for custom variations, and create your own layout.  You can then use a rotating image scaled across multiple displays. You may think that only a resolution ratio of 16:9 is suitable for displays. This is just another limitation that many providers may say is the only option. Technology has improved tremendously. Direct view LED displays can use a variety of ratios, depending on what is being displayed and the viewing range and angles. You are no longer subject to a box in your design and deployment of a LED screen.

Creative Options for Many Industries

Don’t think architectural, artistic digital signage fits your industry? Think again. This application has versatility. Healthcare practices and hospitals could use it as a calming method to reduce anxiety, while also offering wayfinding information. Hospitality has already been a fertile ground for creativity, using city scenes as backdrops that get visitors excited about their vacation. Higher education and corporate lobbies are great places to anchor a display to create buzz and excitement for guests, fans  and business partners. With these type of installations, attendees can view the stunning visual display of messages.

In addition to the companies and organizations already taking advantage of LED displays, businesses can design their own display completely customized to their vision and message. Aside from reinventing a brand or community area, LED screens are available to rent with specialized messages for industry events and needs.

PixelFLEX® recently created an installation for the headquarters of Equifax, a consumer credit reporting agency based in Atlanta, Georgia. We used our 1.9mm TrueFLEX™ displays to create a truly dynamic experience. Working with Velocity Productions, we replicated the Atlanta skyline with different size screens in a custom video wall. This striking display could very well be the future of digital signage as art. As the premier LED solutions provider, we invite you to take a look at the project from our portfolio and see what’s possible.
