Video walls are becoming a more and more popular tool for creating impactful and dynamic experiences. Their magnitude and vividness can create a dramatic entrance or backdrop in a variety of spaces and applications. Entertainment venues, retailers, restaurants and corporate offices are all turning to LED video walls to connect with audiences. LED video displays are designed to present users with creative options, which can be overwhelming when trying to decide what will work best for your business scenario. With such a significant investment, it’s important to consider the initial set-up and design, as well as how to optimize your return.

You should always try to future-proof your LED video wall solution. By asking yourself a few simple questions, you can easily set yourself up for immediate and long-term success in your deployment. How easy will it be to upgrade to the latest technology, and how flexible is the platform? Using systems that have standard architecture, including standard PCs and Ethernet networks, are more adaptable, as are software-based systems. Is the product and supplier you are choosing a quality product and what kind of support is offered?

To ensure you get the most out of your investment, we want our customers to consider the following for the best outcomes:

  • Goals
  • Content
  • Installation and layout
  • Functionality

What are your goals?

Define the business case for your LED wall. Determine how it will influence purchases, promote items, entertain, or offer information. There are many uses for LED walls; this is the time to actually write this out in use case form. Set goals for your objectives based on the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time Limited) philosophy to visualize the impact of your screens.

What type of content will you display?

This will be directly related to your goals. That purpose will drive the design of your content. If your signage includes a lot of text, you should opt for high contrast (white/black) and a clean font. Background images should be subtle. If your content is more for entertainment value, the focus will be on motion and clarity.

Much of the time, customers just want information. If you can provide this conveniently, it can influence their purchase. This influence was validated in a Cisco IBSG study, finding that 40 percent of shoppers agreed that digital displays, like video walls, had influenced their purchase because it provided them relevant information.[1]

Related to content, there’s also the question of if you will display multiple pieces of content, or one video split up among all the screens? You will need to marry your content expectations with the capabilities of the screen, like 4K resolution for high-quality video visuals.

How will the video wall be installed?

As noted previously, the design has to be easy to update and adjust. It’s not just something you install once and never interact with again. Regular maintenance is recommended as well. This means accessibility is necessary, so make that part of your installation plan. This will allow you to work on the system in the future with minimal down time. Other factors affect installation and placement, including:

Interior vs. exterior

  • Ambient light vs. direct light
  • Sight lines and angles
  • Wall space: consider not only your total space, but also what configurations you can fit into that space
  • Viewing distance
  • Any code requirements for the mounting structure

What kind of functionality will you need for hardware and software?

When choosing hardware, opt for commercial grade LEDs, as they are built for constant use and don’t get overheated. Plus, using a non-commercial screen in a commercial setting voids the warranty. Whether built into the screen or as an attachment, you will need a player or processor.

When determining what software to use, go back to your goals. It makes sense in most applications to play different content at different times, so scheduling is a must-have feature. You should also consider the ease of updating content, which is usually found with a cloud-based system that can be accessed from anywhere.

Digital signage is something seen quite often in the modern world. You probably aren’t wowed by standard LED video display presentations anymore. But there is much more to digital signage than standard video walls or single rectangle displays. With advances in LED display product offerings, Digital signage can take on a whole new form and offer an upscale, sophisticated presence as architectural art with digital content playback capabilities. Displays can blend in or stand out in a variety of applications, offering a look that is beyond the norm.

Marrying Beauty and Practicality

Digital signage solutions, at its roots, is all about communicating with an audience. As a means to disperse messages, this offers architects and designers an ever-changeable canvas. But, it needs to be a complement to space as well. It must look purposeful, rather than an afterthought. To integrate into a setting should not be seen as a limitation. You can do more with the way and shape that signage is installed, delivering beauty, while also delivering the practicality as a communications channel. For example, you could use stunning animated visuals like flowers blooming, snow falling, waterfalls rushing, or clouds parting. This type of content will draw in users with its beauty. You have their attention now, so subtly tie in some relatable message to the visuals.

New Shapes Break the Box

There are many more options to build out displays than ever before. Choose various size screens that allow for custom variations, and create your own layout.  You can then use a rotating image scaled across multiple displays. You may think that only a resolution ratio of 16:9 is suitable for displays. This is just another limitation that many providers may say is the only option. Technology has improved tremendously. Direct view LED displays can use a variety of ratios, depending on what is being displayed and the viewing range and angles. You are no longer subject to a box in your design and deployment of a LED screen.

Creative Options for Many Industries

Don’t think architectural, artistic digital signage fits your industry? Think again. This application has versatility. Healthcare practices and hospitals could use it as a calming method to reduce anxiety, while also offering wayfinding information. Hospitality has already been a fertile ground for creativity, using city scenes as backdrops that get visitors excited about their vacation. Higher education and corporate lobbies are great places to anchor a display to create buzz and excitement for guests, fans  and business partners. With these type of installations, attendees can view the stunning visual display of messages.

In addition to the companies and organizations already taking advantage of LED displays, businesses can design their own display completely customized to their vision and message. Aside from reinventing a brand or community area, LED screens are available to rent with specialized messages for industry events and needs.

PixelFLEX® recently created an installation for the headquarters of Equifax, a consumer credit reporting agency based in Atlanta, Georgia. We used our 1.9mm TrueFLEX™ displays to create a truly dynamic experience. Working with Velocity Productions, we replicated the Atlanta skyline with different size screens in a custom video wall. This striking display could very well be the future of digital signage as art. As the premier LED solutions provider, we invite you to take a look at the project from our portfolio and see what’s possible.

While there’s still nothing quite like watching your favorite team in person, home entertainment systems are getting pretty close. With wider screens and surround sound, some fans may be tempted to stay in for the night rather than fight for parking downtown. Sports venues are no longer able to rely on the game itself to draw in crowds. Instead, the fan experience has taken center stage. By utilizing cutting edge LED technology, stadiums can offer fans an immersive, multimedia experience. Creating an engaging and vibrant culture around the game through the use of LED screens is a great way to keep fans coming back time and time again.

We’re not just talking about the jumbotron. Everything from improving architectural aesthetic to providing an easy to use tool to guide fans through the venue can be achieved through the use of LEDs. Imagine walking into an arena for the first time, but instead of merely filing through security, you are surrounded by a hallway made entirely of screens showing the season’s highlights, past triumphs or an update on other games from around the league. In that hallway, there are even wrapped columns featuring current players portraits, making it feel as if they’re with the fans. It would be an unbelievable first impression.

Here at PixelFLEX, actually built something very similar for the MLB All-Star Fan Fest. Essentially a giant theme park for baseball fans, this event gives fans the chance to meet with their favorite players, watch live broadcasts of sports talk shows, and even participate in training drills. When it was hosted in San Diego, PixelFLEX was tasked with creating an arched entry way into their interactive fanzone. With the help of San Diego based MSI Productions, we developed two screens that were 16 feet high and 25 feet long, arcing elegantly over fans as they walked through. The LED entry way provided an immersive fan experience that many may never forget.

LED screens can be used for more than just entertainment. Bridgestone Arena, for example, turned to PixelFLEX to install a screen above escalators that carry 95% of visitors to their seats. Since Bridgestone is ranked sixth in the world for ticket sales among sporting venues, this screen provided ample opportunity not only for advertisement revenue, but also promotion of their own events as well.

Regardless of whether they are used as maps throughout the stadium, engaging entryways or advertising, LED screens can improve the fan experience, and in turn keep them coming back game after game. As an American-based LED manufacturer with expertise across a wide range of industries, PixelFLEX is dedicated to developing creative solutions tailored to the exact need of any space, be it a conference room or a giant stadium. Design-build specialists J Sound Services creates a premiere acoustics and audio/visual design for the new music venue at Top Golf Nashville using FLEXTour 2.8mm LED video

Nashville, TN (3/27/2018) – Specializing in the design of premiere audio/visual systems, J Sound Services has produced a number of successful integrated solutions for the design-build industry. Recently working with the management team behind the new Top Golf location in Nashville, Tennessee, they were asked to create a custom acoustics and audio/visual design for The Cowan, a two-story live performance music venue. Wanting a high-definition video display to complement the multitude of applications planned for the new venue, J Sound Services installed a mobile and expansive FLEXTour 2.8mm LED video solution from PixelFLEX™.

“This was our first time working with Top Golf, and we were referred through a colleague of ours, Nick Cua,” began Jason Spence, J Sound Services. “Set and lighting designer Chris Lisle, with the direction of Aria Group Architects and Nick, was helping define the experience of the room. From an atmosphere and ambiance perspective, they wanted to have a very industrial looking space, but from a functionality perspective, we knew they would be using The Cowan for touring artists, live recordings, singer/songwriter showcases, and corporate events as well. To create a warm production environment in a stark, industrial room, we paid a lot of attention to the details, which really shows in the design of the FLEXTour LED video system.”

A robust, high-definition and curve-able LED video display, FLEXTour is designed specifically for the rigorous demands of live entertainment productions. With its unique rigging capabilities that allow for traditional and off-set configurations, each 500mmx1000mm tile is fully front-serviceable and its integrated climbing ladder allows for quick access to displays flown high overhead. Built with the highest standard in components including the new NovaStar A8s receiving card, FLEXTour is completely flicker-free making it one of the premier LED video design solutions available today.

Spence continued, “For the LED video, we started by investigating the visual acuity of the space and what content would be shown on the screen. With many types of events, the content would range from full-on HD video imagery to PowerPoint presentations, so we really needed to keep the formatting of the content as simple as possible and we ended going with a 16:9 format.”

With the technology solution now identified, the determination of pixel pitch was yet to be made. On a stage measuring approximately 24 feet wide and 16 feet deep, Spence knew that image quality would be key to the experience behind the video design in the live entertainment venue.

“When we do a video installation, we really try to look at all technology solutions, and when determining the pixel pitch, we knew we needed a clear and crisp, high-definition display,” explained Spence. “We initially looked at both 3.6mm and 2.8mm options and wanting the client to see the performance differences between the two, we went over to PixelFLEX for a factory demo. They set up two walls at opposite ends of the viewing space; on one side was the 2.8mm and on the other a 3.6mm. We all then stood in the middle and it was a pretty quick decision to go with the FLEXTour 2.8mm LED.”

While determining the ideal pixel pitch was a significant part of the technology solution, the functionality of the video system needed to be addressed as well. Since the venue would be used for multiple events requiring various positions of the video system on stage, Spence and his team designed a custom mounting structure which enabled a traveling LED video design.

“In this particular situation, our client also wanted to have the ability to move the LED video screen to various positions on stage for different applications of the space,” added Spence. “To do this, our rigging engineer worked with the Top Golf structural engineers, and they fabricated a beam and trolley system that was connected directly to the building structure. Since the video screen would now be mobile on the trolley structure, we needed a robust LED panel technology that could securely lock together, and the FLEXTour works great.”

Now finished with the installation of the video system, it was time to focus on the backend operation that could provide expansive control options for the design. Understanding that both technical and non-technical personnel would be using the display, Spence designed a comprehensive, yet simple, control system that would allow anyone to quickly get their event going.

“There really is a wide range of functionality in the room from a sound, lighting and video perspective,” admitted Spence. “We have an Analog Way Asender 32 that is feeding the outputs to the sending units, and the inputs are connected to a media server and an auxiliary HDMI TV input. There are also HDMI inputs on the stage and front-of-house so that pretty much anywhere you need to place your source inside the venue, you have a way to connect to the LED video wall. All the switching is done using the Analog Way Web RCS software, and we have a three-camera HD PTZ system as well in case they are doing an event that needs live video. Additionally, if there is a non-technical staff that needs to put something on the wall, we have a Crestron Control system that allows them to easily switch to pre-loaded graphics or connect a laptop to the LED video wall with one-touch ability.”

Completed and ready for guests, The Cowan has begun selling out houses for established touring artists such as the Stone Temple Pilots, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, and the Old 97’s. Knowing they had created a state-of-the-art sound, lighting and video design, Spence was eager to see the reaction of both guests, artists and technicians alike.

“The response has been absolutely tremendous, and people are blown away,” concluded Spence. “From all perspectives of clients and guests, people are having a similar reaction where they stop for a moment to take it all in. We were really given the opportunity to deliver something special and watching the reactions has been the best part. It’s been an overwhelmingly positive response and it’s a great system.”

When planning digital signage projects, there are many factors that must be considered when it comes to screen choice. Primarily, it’s critical to understand that the options—LEDs, LCDs, and projection—are not interchangeable. While LEDs and LCDs have some similarities, projection screens are a completely different type of system altogether. Realizing that you’re not comparing apples to apples is essential, as the application, use, and site are paramount to a successful signage integration.

LEDs: Light Emitting Diode Displays

  • LEDs are built upon columns and rows of individual LED packages.
  • LED colors are more vibrant than LCD with greater contrast
  • LED’s offer the greatest brightness–typically between 4,000 to 8,000 nits–that won’t weaken significantly less with age than other display types
  • LEDs are thin, lightweight, and use less power
  • Direct view LED displays are available in more sizes than other screens—ultimately giving more creative freedom for screen configuration and size
  • With LED pixel pitch available in sub 1MM to 100MM configurations, LED resolution resembles that of a flat panel and everything in between.
  • The higher the brightness of the display, the more direct sunlight it can compete against—specifically beneficial for outdoor displays

LCDs: Liquid Crystal Displays

  • LCDs have the highest resolution of the three options, but with much lower brightness—300 to 2,500 nits—making them ideal for up-close viewing
  • The larger the size, the heavier and more fragile the LCD screen which directly correlates to overall weight of displays
  • LCDs can be tiled together for a wall, however, there will be seams between bezels
  • LCD flat panels are available in 1080P and 4K UHD resolutions—the higher the resolution, the more pixels per inch, and the closer the viewer can be
  • Common LCD sizes range from around 10” up to 95” diagonal

Projection Screen: A Surface & Support Structure to Display Projected Images

  • Projectors are required to transmit the image to a projection screen
  • Because images must travel to the viewer’s eye, there’s a larger expanse in which the brightness and visibility of projected images can be diminished, resulting in image clarity and crispness challenges
  • Over time, a projector loses brightness, affecting its ability to properly display saturated colors like black
  • Upkeep and maintenance is more prevalent to keep your projection display system running at its full capabilities.
  • Projectors lack the contrast capabilities of LED

Lighting Considerations: Lights (Natural and Artificial) Influence Screen Selection

  • LEDs are recommended if the space is located outside or will be filled with natural light
  • While it doesn’t impact the visibility of LED images, ambient lighting makes a projected image more difficult to see
  • Ambient light on TV style video walls can have glare and reflection ultimately diminishing effectiveness
  • Depending on the area, LEDs may not even need to display at their highest brightness, adding to their longevity and less consumption of energy

Image Definition and Sizing

  • LEDs and LCDs support HD (high definition) with no challenges
  • Projectors typically only support standard definition or cannot display HD images at full resolution. Higher resolution output projectors can be extremely costly
  • Projectors, however, can easily display images of all sizes, from small to extremely large
  • LED panels only range from about 60 inches to 90 inches at the large end of the spectrum, but can be stacked to create larger composite images
  • Depending on application text playback can determine the resolution of display needed to accomplish effective content reproduction

Set-Up and Usage

  • LEDs and LCDs are much easier to set-up and quicker to turn on than projector displays
  • Projectors are limited in how and where they are used, requiring a video source connection, unimpeded space between the screen and projector, and high mounting in the back of a room or display area—low hanging objects in a venue will obstruct projector set-ups

Maintenance and Cost of Ownership

  • For maintenance, LED repair is straightforward, often just a software update will suffice, while replacing a module or broken bulb necessitates little effort
  • LCDs may require manual calibration and aren’t able to be serviced in the field
  • Projectors typically must be sent off for repair, resulting in downtime
  • Long-term reliability goes to LEDs, which last up to 100,000 hours before suffering dimming issues
  • LCDs only run for 30,000 to 50,000 hours before degradation leading to issues such as image burn in
  • LEDs are more expensive purchases than LCDs, but due to the probable repairs and less lifetime usage of LCDs, LEDs have a lower total cost of ownership

Which display is right for your project?

Digital signage in retail has been growing steadily for the last decade. The growth is partly in response to the many different and unique applications available to retailers. One segment that is poised for exponential expansion is the transparent digital signage market. According to a report by Research and Markets, from 2017 to 2021, the compounded annual growth rate for this sector will increase by 28.7%.[1]

What is Transparent Digital Signage?

The descriptor transparent in Transparent Digital Signage is used because the display is a glass window integrated with a touchscreen and an alternate light source that does not block the display, allowing light to pass through in both directions. This is different than standard LCD screens that have backlit components which illuminate the pixels on the screen, thus creating visibility to viewers.

Transparent displays are gaining in popularity due to their lower power consumption, consuming roughly 10% of the power compared to a traditional LCD display. And with cathode, anode and substrate transparent components, these ultra-thin displays are designed to be more flexible in comparison to other screens. They also allow for 3D content, which has become a highly sought-after feature for retailers. When brands can use 3D advertisements, it changes the way in which they are able to convey ideas and engage with users. These displays also offer tools for easy communication, delivering a positive customer experience.

How Can Retailers Use Transparent Digital Signage?

The application of transparent screens is varied, depending on the goals and type of experience to be created. For instance, leveraging transparent signage in merchandising to introduce and advertise the features of new products is a rapidly emerging trend. In this application, the product is positioned within a display with a screen that shows videos, graphics, and/or text placed directly behind it. And because these screens don’t hinder natural light, many retailers are using this signage as storefront window displays

Ponto Solutions Design Principal Matt Abbrederis creates a dynamic, high-definition video display atop the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino with FLEXUltra 1.9mm LED technology

Nashville, TN (3/15/2018) – Located on a 10,000-square-foot deck overlooking the Fountains of Bellagio, Beer Park at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino provides an exciting rooftop experience. With over 100 eclectic beer options, including 36 beers on tap, the developers of the flagship location wanted the outdoor atmosphere to be a shining example of how to best enjoy the Las Vegas life. In this environment, they now needed a high-definition video display to be a focal point in the dynamic audio/visual design, so they worked with the design specialists at Ponto Solutions who chose a FLEXUltra 1.9mm LED video solution from PixelFLEX™.

“The restaurant/bar design market is a big industry for us, and we were very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the developers of Beer Park,” began Matt Abbrederis, Ponto Solutions. “They really wanted this location to be a premier entertainment experience through an environment that’s exciting and upbeat. They also wanted to be able to draw people in off the Las Vegas strip, so we put together a complete audio/visual package that would help them accomplish all their goals, which ultimately included the high-definition FLEXUltra LED video display.”

A dynamic, high-definition and curve-able LED display, FLEXUltra allows boundless opportunities to create an unforgettable video experience with each frame manufactured specifically for the installation. Utilizing the ideal tile size for deployment of both 16:9 and 4:3 video ratios, FLEXUltra has a 160° horizontal and vertical viewing angle which offers one of the highest off axis viewing angles in the industry, and the fully front-serviceable panels allow for quick and easy onsite installation and maintenance. With a 3869Hz refresh rate, FLEXUltra panels are now available in numerous pixel pitch options ranging from 1.2mm up to 4.0mm.

Abbrederis continued, “In our initial design concepts, we wanted to wrap the LED video around the entire center bar to resemble the NHL center-ice or NBA center-court scoreboards. Since this was the inaugural Beer Park location, we ended up first installing a 4-panel LCD wall. After things got up and going, they saw the need for the LED video, so we flew them down to Nashville to show them the PixelFLEX technology. Once they saw the FLEXUltra solution for themselves, we got approval to swap out all the LCD panels with the 1.9mm LED technology, and they love it.”

Ready to begin the installation of the new LED video system, Abbrederis knew that the numerous challenges of living in the Las Vegas desert might present a series of obstacles. Wanting to ensure the longevity of the system, they next created a custom enclosure and mounting rack to match the specs of the FLEXUltra LED video display.

“This is an outdoor environment and in Vegas that’s a bit unique,” explained Abbrederis. “You have high winds blowing sand, 120-degree summer heat, spring and fall rain storms, and then it even gets cold in the winter with snow every once in a while. Needing a way to best protect the system, we worked with PixelFLEX and a local fabricator to create an outdoor enclosure, with a custom mounting rack, that allowed us to easily install the FLEXUltra LED.”

As the integration of the new system could now move forward, the goal was to make the rooftop design as flexible and truly unique as possible. Keeping both the experience of the guests and the management team in mind, Abbrederis created an easy-to-use audio/visual package which is conveniently controlled through a handheld tablet.

“The LED video wall is now being driven by a Crestron system which gives us a great level of flexibility,” added Abbrederis. “On the HD LED video wall, we can now use it as one large display, or we can break it up and show up to four different pieces of video content at once. We then have an audio system that can intelligently read the decibel levels throughout the space to give us a nice and even distribution of sound across the entire rooftop with no hot spots. The complete A/V system is then controlled off a tablet that the employees can use to change the channels, break up the video and audio zones, and then also adjust volume in fully integrated operating system.”

In an ever-evolving world of consumer engagement, Abbrederis believes that LED video technology is a key design element for an innovative and modern customer experience. Looking at the technology from both a performance and functionality perspective, he is quick to note its multiple advantages for a more successful and memorable visual display.

“In this application, reliability was certainly the key, and the overall reliability of LED video is much greater than other large format displays,” Abbdrederis admitted. “Additionally, the imagery of the LED video is seamless so that you don’t have varying colors, and the installation is a lot easier because you are essentially using one big mount instead of individual mounting LCD displays. Plus, if one LCD display goes out, you have to replace the entire display. With LED technology, should you have a panel failure, you just pop it out and place in a new one, so it minimizes your down time and you get a better-quality display.”

Ready to now showcase the new FLEXUltra LED video system to the developers of Beer Park, Abbrederis was excited to fully demonstrate how it would enhance the open-air atmosphere. While also understanding that the final result would ultimately be determined by the allure of the system on the guests, he is confident about the lasting effects of LED video technology in this type of entertainment environment.

“Once they saw the result of the new system, they knew why we were pushing an LED video solution in the beginning of the project,” concluded Abbrederis. “The brightness, the clarity and the technology all make a statement in your facility, which customers really appreciate. We started quoting LED video about 18 months ago, and what we have found out is that if you have a high-definition LED video display in your venue, guests are going to more significantly enjoy the experience.”

Walking into the lobby of your building, what is a guest’s first impression? You may have beautifully tiled floors and elegant furniture, but what kind of visual experience are you creating?

When clients or prospective employees walk through your door, their eyes will initially be drawn to your walls. While paintings of abstract art or murals that depict your brand are nice accents, a premium digital display offers a unique opportunity to both communicate and vaunt everything that’s great about your brand. With content that can be changed regularly, allowing you to tailor messaging, digital displays offer advantages that still art simply cannot compete with.

How to Integrate LEDs Into Your Lobby Experience

There are many ways to use LEDs to create a one of a kind guest experience, including video walls, dynamic art, interactive elements, and personalization.

  • LED Video Walls

You’ve got walls, so use them! An LED video wall can make a striking first impression. Video walls show off your brand’s affinity for technology, bringing huge impact to your space with colorful, vivid imagery related to either the products you create or your brand’s story.

  • Digital Signage as Art

Using LEDs as art isn’t new; in fact, digital media is just another form of visual expression. Hotels in Las Vegas have implemented digital signage for years, while those who’ve visited The Cosmopolitan Hotel may remember their snow scene lobby displays. It’s best to employ a creative services department or mixed media artists when creating this type of content.

  • Interactive Displays

Immersive experiences are becoming very popular in corporate office lobbies, and there are many ways these collaborative kiosks can be deployed. For instance, creating a vibrant, interactive historic company timeline that allows visitors to touch different years and see imagery and content related to that year’s activities is far more engaging than a printed static timeline. These displays can also include other interactive applications such as wayfinding, Q&A, and fun facts.

  • Personalized Communications

Personalized messaging customized to specific clients, prospects, or visitors can differentiate your organization from the pack. Content can be as simple as a welcoming message, or perhaps even a short video that demonstrates how your organization works with partners. Little nods of personalized recognition let your guests know they’re appreciated.

PixelFLEX has been creating and delivering LED display solutions, including corporate lobbies,  to fit the various needs of myriad businesses for years. See how PixelFLEX reimagined the Equifax headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

Today’s marketing clients are questioning the effectiveness of broadcast and digital media buys, as consumers continually find new options to easily skip, mute, or block TV and digital ads. That’s why more and more agencies are turning to experiential marketing. For example, AgencyEA co-founder Fergus Rooney has seen clients increase their experiential spending 10 to 14 percent year over year. Attending an event or sharing an experience with others is a decision. And in a sense, it also constitutes a purchase using the currency of time. Digital LED displays are a powerful tool for innovative brands looking to create a memorable immersive experience.

PixelFLEX is an American-based LED manufacturer that offers creative solutions, reliable products, and dependable service for their industry-leading LED display technologies. Here are some amazing examples of where PixelFLEX has helped create immersive experiences with their LED displays:

  • Plein Sport, based in Europe, is the world’s first luxury active sportswear brand. They focus on men’s and women’s shoes, clothing, and accessories, telling their customers to “Expect the Unexpected.” With German partner ASB Glass, PixelFLEX installed an interactive LED sports floor in Plein Sport stores to help increase customer engagement and entice passing customers to stop in and shop.
  • Air Jordan, endorsed by and created for the all-time great Michael Jordan, is one of the most iconic footwear and athletic clothing brands in the world. To create an impact for the unveiling of the Air Jordan 31 release in Las Vegas, VT Pro Design and PixelFLEX teamed up to produce the world’s first regulation, interactive LED basketball floor, rated for game play.
  • Converse is one of the world’s largest and most recognized shoe brands. They are perhaps most famous for their iconic shoe, the Chuck Taylor. So when Converse unveiled the Chuck Taylor II, a long-awaited sequel to the original 98-year-old sneaker, at an event in South Boston at their headquarters, they wanted to make an impact. To engage visitors and create a focal point for the event, PixelFLEX created a freestanding LED tunnel entrance.

To draw in customers and engage them, major brands are increasingly turning to experiential marketing. An LED display from PixelFLEX can play a huge role in creating an immersive experience.

PixelFLEX became a trendsetter in the LED industry by offering high quality, custom made, durable products to customers worldwide. We were founded on our revolutionary light-weight, flexible FLEXCurtain, which fulfilled a need for the always-evolving touring market. Since then, PixelFLEX has developed a full line of FLEX series permanent install and rental/staging products including FLEXUltra, TrueFLEX, reFLEXion, FLEXLite NXG, FLEXLite II, FLEXLite Plus, FLEXStorm, FLEXClear and FLEXCurtainHD. In addition to our current line of products, we work with architects, designers, engineers, and consultants to develop custom LED solutions for each and every customer, while also providing top-tier customer support throughout the entire experience.

It should come as no surprise that the hospitality industry is highly competitive. Any advantage possible is needed to ensure that guests have a positive experience from the moment they walk through the door. Studies have shown that it only takes a few minutes for a guest to develop an impression of the hotel that can positively or negatively affect the entirety of their stay. While steps like improving front desk service to ensure smooth check-ins or leaving welcome packages for guests are certainly important, hotels are seeking new ways to compete with the growing number of overnight alternatives like AirBNB, as well as traditional competitors.

For many, LED signage solutions provide an opportunity to improve the overall guest experience in a visually engaging way. A video wall in the main lobby, for instance, can be utilized to remind guests about upcoming events, give advice on local tourism attractions, and even function as an opportunity for paid advertising. Some hotels have begun establishing a live social media feed that displays pictures and posts from their guests based on a hashtag, providing a unique way to connect with guests while simultaneously reaching a much wider audience via social media.

On a purely utilitarian level, digital signage can be placed strategically throughout the hotel to provide guests with easy to follow directions. Whether they are trying to find their room or the quickest route to the pool, having interactive LED displays will avoid the frustration guests can face when they find themselves wandering around without any idea of where to go. For hotels that host large conferences, this technology also offers the added benefit of displaying the day’s itinerary with unique, event-specific branding.

As the customer base for the tourism industry becomes more tech savvy, having amenities that cater to their preferences is increasingly important. Digital displays can advertise a hotel’s lesser known premium services, and even advertise options for room upgrades that customers may not have otherwise been aware of. Not only that, beautifully designed video displays are an aesthetic advantage to help draw in new clientele. Adding in an interactive option to your displays also provides the ability to implement a digital kiosk based check-in service. As odd as it may sound, adding this simple service actually draws in new customers, with surveys finding that over a third of guests prefer hotels that offer a simpler, technology-driven check-in option.

As the hospitality industry undergoes rapid technological changes, hotels have to adapt to stay ahead of current trends. By integrating digital LED display solutions into multiple facets of their day-to-day operations, hotel managers can vastly improve the overall customer experience. With industry leading technology, PixelFLEX ® provides hotels with easy to use, intuitive LED display solutions that provide a much needed advantage over the competition.
