Award-winning design firm Xibita works with WorldWide Events to install 13 LED video elements at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in New Orleans

Nashville, 11/26/2017 – Attracting nearly 18,000 attendees from more than 100 countries, the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions is the premier opportunity for medical professionals to come together to share ideas on how to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. As a leader in the global healthcare field, Switzerland-based Novartis was looking to make a dynamic statement at the event through a colorful digital media and interactive trade show display. Wanting LED video to play a prominent role in the booth design, Novartis turned to Milan-based WorldWide Events and Vancouver-based Xibita to help them create a truly memorable digital media showcase using 13 different LED video design elements from PixelFLEX.

“We are the preferred supplier in North America for WorldWide Events who was retained by Novartis to create the AHA Scientific Sessions trade show display,” began Hanif Muljiani, President, Xibita. “When we all got together to speak about the design concept, they wanted a design that was open, friendly and natural, with warm tones and much more color than you would normally see in a typical pharmaceutical booth. They also wanted to feature LED video technology so that the graphic messaging could be changed very quickly, and while we typically do one video wall in a trade show design, this one was quite an immersive experience and the PixelFLEX technology really allowed us to make the design quite unique.”

As the design team began the process of selecting a LED video provider, they knew it would be a challenge to find all the elements needed to bring the complete design together. With so many LED video surfaces planned in the design, they needed a supplier with a breadth of innovative inventory plus the technical support to match. Off the recommendation of a colleague, they found both qualities in Nashville-based PixelFLEX.

“One of our biggest challenges was trying to find a company that could provide all of the LED video elements needed within our budget and timeframe,” continued Muljiani. “We only had about eight weeks to build the display and with that much technology, it definitely required everyone to work together to make it happen. For the technology, we needed a small pixel pitch and high resolution for the elements that would be viewed close-up, plus we needed video elements capable of working with the curved structures to create the archway that would be a focal point in the design. PixelFLEX has a significant amount of innovative inventory and they really helped us bring the whole project together.”

With PixelFLEX now on board, the design began to take shape and as they identified the ideal LED technologies needed for the design, the final concept included FLEXLite and FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm LED, and FLEXTour 2.8mm LED video technology.

“In the final design, we ended up flying all the LED video elements except for the curved arch structure and it really helped when PixelFLEX worked directly with Freeman to assess how we would support the structures in the booth,” added Muljiani. “We had five days at the show to build the complete installation and this was the first time we would actually put the entire system together. We live in a technology environment where things are inevitably going to be a challenge and to have an organization like PixelFLEX that you can count on to be adaptive and reliable is a tremendous advantage.”

Now that the LED video elements were all in place, it was time to program the content for the show so the design could finally come to life. Without having the opportunity to complete a full-scale mock-up prior to the opening of the show, Muljiani was excited to see the finished design for the first time.

“For the content, WorldWide Events worked with Novartis to create dynamic graphics along with presentation text and messaging to convey the attributes of the Novartis products,” explained Muljiani. “Driven by the mandate to attract attendees from all over the trade show floor, the finished design was very bright and colorful, and it looked absolutely beautiful.”

With their work now complete, the AHA Scientific Sessions opened the doors to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Eager to see the reaction of the show attendees, Muljiani took a moment to stand back and take it all in, knowing that they had not only met, but surpassed all expectations for the Novartis trade show design.

“The day the show opened, my account manager and I stood back to look at the design and it was unbelievable,” concluded Muljiani. “Together we walked the show floor and from every angle the technology blended with the structures and balanced itself very well with the overall design. Technology should fit into the overall booth environment and not take it over, and that’s exactly what the PixelFLEX technology did. With the choice of colors and patterns along with the choices in pixel pitch and resolution, the entire design worked together as one cohesive display making it an exciting and visually captivating experience.”

Designer Chris Lisle creates an exciting and functional production design for one of country music’s hottest stars using FLEXCurtain HD LED video from tour sponsor Monster Energy

Nashville, 1/23/2017 – Since making his debut on Social Media and on shows such as X Factor and American Idol, RCA Nashville recording artist Kane Brown has seen a meteoric rise in the Country Music industry. Now regarded by many industry insiders as “one to watch”, Brown recently launched his first headlining tour in support of his self-titled debut album. Needing a production design to complement the Tennessee-native, his management team enlisted the assistance of designer Chris Lisle who got to work creating an exciting yet functional tour design which included PixelFLEX FLEXCurtain HD 6.25mm LED video supplied by tour sponsor Monster Energy.

“This is my first tour with Kane Brown as his production has now grown to a point where he needed creative direction, so I was contacted by his business manager and asked to come on board,” began Lisle. “Since he would be playing a wide variety of venues, we had to create a tour design that would work in houses of all sizes, but we also had to look at the logistical factors associated with the tour. We had to always keep in mind how much space was in the trailer, who was going to set-up and tear-down the system each night, and then how much power the rig would require. Needing compact touring elements, we were very fortunate to have the FLEXCurtain HD LED video wall because it’s a bright and high-performance product that can pack away very easily and it requires minimal tech time for the load-in and load-out.”

The Parnelli Award-winning FLEXCurtain HD is a lightweight and flexible LED video screen ideal for high resolution video playback and video effects for a wide range of touring and live event applications. Its hi-res LED video can be driven by any DVI output, and the multi-directional, flexible design makes it easy to store and transport. FLEXCurtain HD is 60-90% lighter than the competition, and using the quick-lock system, 500 square feet of FLEXCurtain HD can be set up and broken down in under 15 minutes.

Lisle continued, “When management and I started discussing the tour, we knew we would have the main LED video wall and the two side columns supplied by tour sponsor Monster Energy, so we worked a lot of the production design around the LED video wall. While I had loosely worked with PixelFLEX before, it was never in a touring environment and we have really enjoyed working with the FLEXCurtain HD. It’s bright with a perfect intensity, and I’m hearing great things from the team on the road about its performance night-after-night.”

As the production team got to work designing the content for the LED video design, Lisle and his team had very specific ideas of how the design should work within the flow of the concert. Not wanting the video to take focus away from the artist and the music, they were cognizant to use it as an enhancement rather than a distraction.

“For the LED video design, we opted for a combination of stock content, custom design elements that we designed in-house, and then a few elements Kane already had in place from a previous tour with Florida Georgia Line,” explained Lisle. “We wanted to have a nice flow to the production design so there are a few songs where the LED video is soft and subtle, but then there are also times where the content is very rich and visual. This is how we like to design our shows because we don’t want fans staring at the video screens the entire time. We want them to enjoy the entire performance while keeping it visually interesting throughout the night.”

Another element to any production design is making sure than all the design features work together as one. Understanding how the LED video and lighting needed to complement each other, Lisle worked with programmer Erik Parker to ensure that all the elements stay connected throughout the show.

“One of the main things I always look for when designing is that the colors make sense,” admitted Lisle. “In my design style, I rarely have more than two colors up at any given time and that includes LED video content. I like very rich, solid content so when working with our programmer Erik Parker we are very cautious that each look is a cohesive design element, and he does an outstanding job.”

As the “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now Tour” continues its way across the United States, fans are lining up to spend an evening with one of Country Music’s hottest young stars. Looking back on the work that went into creating the production design behind the tour, Lisle is quick to acknowledge that the FLEXCurtain HD was a significant factor to its success, overcoming all logistical challenges and performing beautifully in all venues along the way.

“The major advantage of working with the FLEXCurtain HD on this tour was definitely its ease-of-use and performance functionality,” concluded Lisle. “On tours like this where we are getting the entire package inside one bus trailer, space is a big concern and it’s nice to be able to fold it up, put it in a road case, and go on down the highway. The FLEXCurtain HD is also bright and colorful enough to perform in any size venue, and it goes together very easily for a small crew. Simply put, it has been an ideal LED video solution for the ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us Now Tour’ and it looks great onstage.”

Cason Cleveland Productions chooses FLEXLite NXG 2.6mm LED video technology as the focal point for the new auditorium in Snellville, Georgia

Nashville, January 16th, 2017 – Originally founded in 1987, 12Stone Church has grown to include eight campuses throughout Georgia serving the communities in Gwinnett, Hall, and Barrow counties. In their most recent expansion, the congregation completed a full renovation of a large retail location in Snellville, GA, and in doing so they needed to create a full worship environment. Working with Cason Cleveland Productions, 12Stone Church had a specific vision for the LED video elements in the new auditorium, so together they enlisted the assistance of Nashville-based PixelFLEX and installed FLEXLite NXG 2.6mm LED video technology.

“For our new Snellville campus, we were moving into what used to be a Best Buy retail location, so we really needed to create all of the production elements from scratch for our worship environment,” began Dustin Whitt, Production Ministry Lead. “When looking specifically at the LED video elements, we knew it would be about 16 feet to the first row of the audience, plus we would have wide viewing angles, so we had to have a product with a tight pixel pitch. In looking at all the products available from PixelFLEX, we ultimately chose the 2.6mm FLEXLite NXG and the LED video looks great.”

Offering one of the highest resolution displays on the market, the FLEXLite NXG is designed to meet the demands of any installation or production. With fully front-serviceable panels, the FLEXLite NXG is available in 2.6mm-6.25mm pitch options, plus it includes a 6.25mm IP65 version as well.  For optimum performance, FLEXLite NXG tiles are calibrated directly out of the box to help decrease any failures in the field and to ensure perfect color and brightness.

“As we were looking at the various LED video offerings on the market, we had heard about PixelFLEX through other churches using their technology with success,” admitted Cleveland. “It was also important to us that we choose a US-based partner who we knew would be available for support and service throughout the process, and working with PixelFLEX has been a wonderful experience.”

With the decision made to move forward with the FLEXLite NXG LED video technology, Cleveland and Whitt got to work on the installation of the new system. Looking at how they wanted the auditorium to be a reconfigurable space, the decision was made to hang the LED video wall instead of permanently affixing it one location.

“In designing the Snellville auditorium, we wanted the main auditorium to seat approximately 850 members and the stage itself to be about 30’ wide and 18’ deep,” continued Whitt. “Additionally, we wanted the stage design to have a touring aspect to it where we could periodically change the actual configuration so we needed to hang the FLEXLite NXG LED video wall from truss instead of permanently installing it where it could not be moved.”

“How the PixelFLEX technology has been engineered for quick and simple installation was definitely another factor that we took into consideration,” added Cleveland. “Since the FLEXLite NXG would be the only LED video screen in the room, we needed it to be able to use it in various configurations, plus we wanted a technology that we might be able to use in the other campuses as well. Once we were finished with the initial installation of the LED video wall we ended up using 45 panels of the FLEXLite NXG and it looks amazing.”

Now that the FLEXLite NXG LED video was installed in the Snellville auditorium, Whitt could begin programming the variety of high resolution video content to be displayed during the worship services.

“At 12Stone Church, we have a modern worship environment and we use a full complement of content ranging from simple text on a black screen, to dynamic graphics, and even IMAG video during the sermon,” explained Whitt. “One of the things I love most about the FLEXLite NXG is that when we are showing white text on a black background, the background disappears and allows the lighting to carry a visual energy that we simply could not achieve by using projection.”

As the final production elements were put into place, the Snellville campus was opened to the 12Stone Church congregation. Currently holding three services per week, the church is now providing the surrounding community with a state-of-the-art worship environment with an LED video wall backed by the support of PixelFLEX.

“During the construction of any new production environment there are inevitably going to be challenges with getting the complete system ready to go,” said Cleveland. “Throughout the entire process in Snellville, PixelFLEX always had our back to make sure the install was going as planned, and that is what really made all the difference to make this project a complete success.”

“At 12Stone Church, we are a modern worship family with a high-energy service and our goal isn’t to be flashy, but instead to do things with excellence while supporting the message,” concluded Whitt. “From the leadership to the congregation, everyone absolutely loves the new worship environment and the FLEXLite NXG LED video wall is a wonderful addition that truly helps us bring the message to life.”

Industry leading digital media solutions provider uses FLEXLite NXG technology for two innovative LED video displays in their new Richardson, Texas headquarters

Nashville, 1/4/2017 – Since its founding in 2001, Reflect has been at the forefront of creating digital experiences that help their clients maximize sales and strengthen brand loyalty. The company recently relocated its headquarters to a new facility in Richardson, Texas designed to fully showcase the scope of their innovative solutions.  Wanting to make an impact from the moment clients walk in the front door, Reflect created two visually dynamic LED displays using FLEXLite NXG technology from Nashville-based PixelFLEX.

“As we were designing our new facility, we wanted to showcase the innovative technologies we are leading with in the field,” began Chas Thornhill, CTS, Reflect’s Senior Systems Engineer. “Since our previous location didn’t really say a lot about us as a company, we wanted a more modern look and for the space itself to showcase what we do at Reflect. Knowing that the first impression is always very important, we wanted to deploy creative LED experiences in our new lobby and PixelFLEX was a natural choice for us.”

Offering one of the highest resolution displays on the market, the FLEXLite NXG from PixelFLEX is designed to meet the demands of any installation or production.

Thornhill continued, “In the new lobby, we wanted to simulate a store front window because retail is one of our largest vertical markets.  To do this, we created a room that is about 5 feet deep by 20 feet wide with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall that connects to our lobby. Inside the room, we built a 2 meter by 2 meter LED display made up of 16 FLEXLite NXG tiles. We rotated three tiles 45 degrees and positioned them in front of the others for a more interesting display. Having the tiles rotated and brought forward gives us three focal points for custom video content, plus we still have the option to utilize the LED screen as one continuous display.”

When deciding upon which technology to use for the “store front” application, there were specific advantages to choosing the FLEXLite NXG.

Custom Lobby LED Display

“The FLEXLite NXG 3.9mm technology was perfect for this installation because each cabinet is self-contained with built-in receiving card and power supply, plus we needed front-serviceability and a product that lends itself toward non-standard installations,” explained Thornhill. “The FLEXLite NXG line offers cabling flexibility and multiple options for mounting so it doesn’t have to be assembled in the traditional way.  And with a maximum brightness of 1500 NITs the display can compete with ambient light in a store front deployment.”

“For added emphasis, we installed an additional PixelFLEX LED experience comprised of four FLEXLite NXG 2.6mm cabinets recessed directly into the front of our reception desk,” added Thornhill. “In preparation, we had the desk equipped with rear access panels to facilitate mounting and cabling.  The desk is a purpose-built piece of furniture designed specifically to deploy the FLEXLite NXG half panels. Now when you enter our lobby, we have two primary areas of innovative digital media focus and it looks great.”

With the installation complete, Reflect opened the doors to their new headquarters in Richardson, Texas. Thornhill is confident they have achieved their goal of merging the digital and physical worlds through the creative deployment of the FLEXLite NXG displays.

“By using the LED video installations in a non-traditional application, we are demonstrating to our clients that they can deploy state-of-the-art technology in a much more creative way instead of a simple flat field,” concluded Thornhill. “In a digital world, we are competing for the consumer’s visual attention. Creativity and innovation is key. PixelFLEX LED gives us the tools we need to provide innovative solutions to our clients.”
