Nashville, Tenn., July 1, 2013 – PixelFLEX LED Curtains were a key element during the recent tours for Mary Mary and iShine because of their flexibility and lightweight design. The two Christian music groups played in a variety of unique theater and church spaces throughout their tours, which often meant a different stage set up would be required for each venue. Under the direction of Mike Houlihan, production and tour manager for both acts, PixelFLEX’s flexible and easy to use technology allowed for a high-quality production without the costly budget and excessive work for the road crew.

Grammy-winning act Mary Mary has been a mainstay on the R&B and gospel scene for more than 12 years. To make a big impression on the sister duo’s latest tour, Houlihan incorporated four 20mm resolution panels from PixelFLEX in the center of the stage to deliver videos of the act throughout the show, including clips from the group’s TV show featured on WE. PixelFLEX’s LED Curtain was the staple piece that Houlihan designed Mary Mary’s tour around.

“To make this work on the tour, we needed a solution that would fit into one truck along with the rest of the tour equipment,” Houlihan said. “Given the challenges presented by some of the venues, we also had to have a system that was easy to set up and tear down. PixelFLEX was the only alternative to meeting both needs while also providing pristine video quality to the audience.”

For iShine, a group of Christian teenage artists that tour and perform at churches each spring to minister to pre-teens and their families, Houlihan often was faced with setting up at venues with unmovable structures. On this tour, in which he used four 20mm resolution panels, the flexibility of the panels and ability to separate them to work around such structures was critical to Houlihan and his team.

“On the iShine tour, having a product that was very flexible made a huge difference for us,” Houlihan remarked. “Audience participation is a big part of the iShine tour, so we had to be able to show song lyrics and video behind the performers. With the stage size and depth different at each venue it would have been far more difficult to deliver the required content without the PixelFLEX system.”

Given the high level of audience and performer approval Houlihan has received regarding on the PixelFLEX LED Curtain, he’s currently mapping out future tours and plans for using the system in different ways.

“With the various challenges we faced at each venue, the folks that run the iShine tour were blown away by the PixelFLEX Curtain’s performance,” Houlihan concluded. “To be able to deliver high-quality video content no matter the venue configuration, while also saving money in production costs is a tremendous value to touring professionals.”

Easy to operate and set up – videos and images can be sent to the screen using any computer with a DVI-D connection – PixelFLEX LED Curtains are available from low resolution to high resolution, allowing users to demonstrate simple effects or elaborate videos.

Nashville, Tenn., June 10, 2013 — Minor league baseball games provide a wonderful opportunity for fans of the game to enjoy the sights and sounds of baseball in a fun, family-friendly environment. From the crack of the bat to the sheer grace of middle infielders easily turning a double play, it’s hard to beat a night at the minor league ballpark on a beautiful spring or summer evening. However, for fans of the Nashville Sounds, AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, the ability to watch video replays and highlights on a state-of-the-art digital scoreboard is missing from an otherwise perfect experience, as Greer Stadium, the team’s 36-year-old ballpark, isn’t equipped with such video technology capabilities.

While talks proceed on moving the team to a new ballpark with current day amenities, including a video scoreboard in the outfield, the Nashville Sounds were able to enhance the fan experience during a recent night game by utilizing lightweight and flexible LED video curtain panels manufactured by PixelFLEX. With more than 3,000 fans in attendance for Music Industry Night, a popular promotional event scheduled several times a season that features a pre-game musical performance, the Sounds kept fans in the action throughout the game by delivering video and player information across the PixelFLEX panels in right-centerfield.

“Our fans are among the best across the country, so we are hopeful in regards to the possibility of a new ballpark with better amenities, including a video scoreboard,” said Brad Tammen, the team’s vice president and general manager. “In the meantime, we’re glad we had an opportunity to test out the PixelFLEX system. I was really impressed with the clarity, sharpness and brightness of the panels.”

Videos and images can be sent to PixelFLEX’s screens using any computer with a DVI-D connection. Each typical screen panel is approximately 8’x4’, but modifications can be made easily to meet specific needs of the consumer – panels can be attached together with PixelFLEX’s proprietary quicklock system. During the Sounds’ game, PixelFLEX provided a 24’ wide by 16’ tall wall of 20mm panels.

“The thing that surprised me most was the ease of set up,” Tammen continued. “All of a sudden, the PixelFLEX video screen appeared out of nowhere, hanging above the right-centerfield wall. We’re planning to use the screen again for our game on July 3rd, which will feature fireworks and probably a much larger audience. We’re looking forward to it.”

Nashville, May 20, 2013 –Out on the road serving as an opening act for the Luke Bryan Tour, Thompson Square is using PixelFLEX’s unique, flexible and lightweight LED Curtains to enhance and simplify their live musical performances. The husband and wife duo was searching for an efficient way to add video components to their show and PixelFLEX was able to bring the band’s vision to life with its industry-leading video curtain walls.

As the middle act on the Tour, Thompson Square has a relatively quick window to set up and take down their entire set – 13 minutes to be exact. Still, the tour and production manager, Christian Easterling, was determined to figure out how the band could deliver the type of show desired in the amount of time allotted. Easterling soon came across PixelFLEX LED Curtains, which allowed for high-quality visuals without the worry of time constraints.

“We tour with four crew people,” said Easterling. “Everything is done in such a quick manner; there is no way we could have performed the show with any other screen out there. It’s just amazing to see how the entire set moves away in a matter of minutes and is completely gone.”

For the Luke Bryan Tour, Thompson Square is using 16- 20mm curtains flown off trusses for use as a backdrop to further enhance the audience’s live experience. The screens are used to deliver static images, color changes and video footage to add some depth and dimension to the live shows, according to Easterling.

Easy to operate and set up – videos and images can be sent to the screen using any computer with a DVI-D connection – PixelFLEX LED Curtains are available from low resolution to high resolution, allowing users to demonstrate simple effects or elaborate videos. Flexible in all directions, PixelFLEX LED Curtains are able to bend and shape around structures for a more creative display.

“The benefits (of the PixelFLEX LED Curtains) are that you can manipulate it and move it around to different areas if you need to,” said Easterling. “Sometimes, we have been in venues where our trim height is not that great, so we can take the screen and move it to a different location, put in front of risers and it’s very flexible. It has a tremendous impact on the show and that is just such a cool thing.”

Easterling has been on tour with Thompson Square for almost two years and this is the first tour in which they have used the PixelFLEX solution. The additional support, thus far, has been well received.

“I hear on a regular basis that the walls truly enhance the performance; the feeling is that it looks like a headliner’s set,” Easterling remarked. “It’s been easy in, easy up, which is extremely important out on tour. Just as important, the product delivers exceptional results at an affordable cost.”

Nashville, Tenn., April 29, 2013 — When it came time to host this year’s annual K-LOVE Friends & Family Music Cruise, featuring musical acts such as TobyMac, MercyMe, Big Daddy Weave and David Crowder, Premier Christian Cruises tapped PixelFLEX to provide its industry-leading, lightweight and ultra-flexible LED curtain video screens as a backdrop for the musical performances. Having used the PixelFLEX screens in the past, the company decided to take advantage of the product’s ease of use and set-up by using them in the ship’s atrium to provide information to its guests during the cruise.

“For past cruises, we’ve used PixelFLEX to enhance the live concert experience and we were eager to come up with other ways to utilize the technology,” said Zach Thomas, marketing director for Premier Christian Cruises. “This year, we hung a PixelFLEX panel in the main atrium to feature announcements and a brief video to keep our passengers up to date on activities. It was a valuable tool for us, and our passengers, and we expect to use it again on future cruises.”

Founded in 2003 and having served more than 50,000 passengers, Premier Christian Cruises brings top Christian musical artists together for a four to seven night spiritual journey featuring music, Bible studies, marriage enrichment and an assortment of other entertaining experiences.

For the K-LOVE Friends & Family Music Cruise, PixelFLEX supplied 8- 20mm panels for use in two different locations on the ship. Each typical screen panel is approximately 8×4, but modifications can be made easily to meet specific needs of the consumer – panels can be attached together with PixelFLEX’s proprietary quicklock system.

“The primary benefit of the PixelFLEX technology for us was the weight of the curtain screens,” Thomas continued. “Cruise ships aren’t designed to support a large amount of weight – excluding passengers and belongings – so we need to limit additional weight wherever possible.”

Videos and images can be sent to PixelFLEX’s screens using any computer with a DVI-D connection. This simplicity was an added bonus to Thomas and his team.

“We were able to use a laptop to run a slide show to the atrium screens along with videos and song lyrics to the screen in the concert theatre,” Thomas remarked. “It was a really simple and easy process. No difficulties at all, which is great for us because on a cruise ship there is a lot to do to entertain guests for the week and we didn’t want to have to deal with any additional overhead from having to hire more labor to handle video and effects.”

Birmingham, Ala., April 23, 2013 — Student Life, an inter-denominational ministry offering Gospel-centered, high energy summer camps and youth conferences, has taken PixelFLEX’s ultra-flexible and lightweight LED curtain video wall on the road during its Be Last Conference celebrating Mark 9:35: If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.

On the tour, Student Life uses 16 PixelFLEX panels across the stage as an accent to the production’s main 17’ projection screen. The PixelFLEX panels run a variety of content throughout the show, including a series of flags from various countries, to provide different looks and feels on stage. For organizers of Student Life’s Be Last Conference, ease of use and set-up are the primary benefits to using the PixelFLEX solution.

“They are extremely easy to use,” said Jake Brantley, producer for Student Life. “Being able to change the look and feel of our stage at the drop of a hat is invaluable. When we have more of an upbeat sound on stage, we can use fast moving graphics and bright colors to add energy. If we’re trying to create a more serious tone, we can add darker blues and slower motion graphics without having to change the backdrops. All of this can be done simply with a click of a button.”

Flexible in all directions, PixelFLEX LED Curtains are able to bend and shape around structures for a more creative display effect and can be stored in a single road case to simplify shipping. This flexibility is critical to Brantley and his team during the Be Last Conference – both during and after the performance.

“With the way we’re using the LED panels on stage, having the ability to shape the panels as we need to is crucial – in one or two places we use them to create a nice arch or 90 degree bend around a corner,” Brantley stated. “On top of that, it only takes two people to load the panels in and out before and after the show, which means we can be done with set up and tear down more quickly. Finally, the fact that you can fold and store the panels in travel cases is a tremendous cost saver for a small tour like ours.”

Videos and images can be sent to PixelFLEX’s screens using any computer with a DVI-D connection. Each typical screen panel is approximately 8×4, but modifications can be made easily to meet specific needs of the consumer – panels can be attached together with PixelFLEX’s proprietary quicklock system.

“PixelFLEX’s panels give us a ton of versatility with regard to the custom content we’re able to incorporate into the tour,” Brantley remarked. “We have an unlimited amount of options as to what our stage can look like and that is cool.”

Las Vegas, April 15, 2013 — For an award show honoring the best in modular exhibit design, when it came time to select an LED screen to integrate into the stage design for the ceremonies, event coordinators knew exactly where to turn for a winning solution –PixelFLEX. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, the Mod Awards featured a 16’ x 16’ state-of-the-art LED video curtain wall from PixelFLEX, makers of the industry’s leading ultra-flexible, lightweight and durable LED screens.

Attendees to the ceremony were first greeted by two 8’ tall cylinders created by turning four PixelFLEX panels on their side to create a one-of-a-kind eye-catching design. Once the show began, PixelFLEX’s LED curtain, featuring a series of motion graphics introducing each of the ceremony’s speakers and showcasing each award category, was integrated behind a series of fabric structures on stage. The PixelFLEX solution’s work wasn’t done at the conclusion of the award ceremony, as the video curtain wall was used to feature a variety of images, including video, sponsor logos and animation graphics during the after party.

Event organizers, thrilled with the system’s performance, are currently planning how they can incorporate the innovative technology into their booth designs moving forward.

“The unique nature and exceptional performance make PixelFLEX’s LED video curtain wall a very attractive option for exhibitors,” said George Contorinis, marketing director at Abex, booth manufacturer and host of the 2013 Mod Awards. “We were eager to see the system’s capabilities in action at the Mod Awards and we were not disappointed. This technology opens up a lot of possibilities for how exhibitors can attract attention during trade shows and events.”

Flexible in all directions, PixelFLEX LED Curtains are able to bend and shape around structures for a more creative display effect and can be stored in a single road case to simplify shipping. This flexibility, in combination with the product’s extraordinary light weight – PixelFLEX LED Curtains range
from 4.5 lbs to 19.9 lbs per square meter, which is 60 to 90 percent less than most other LED video screens – provides substantial savings on transportation costs and space.

“We’ve been involved with the annual Mod Awards for the past 11 years and this was definitely the most technologically advanced show attendees have ever seen,” Contorinis stated. “The primary reason for that was the PixelFLEX curtain as it inspired us creatively in how we integrated video and graphics into the ceremony.”

LED Video Screen’s Flexibility and Ease of Use Ideal for Trade Shows

Clearwater, Fla., March 5, 2013 — At Winter NAMM, the musical instrument industry’s signature trade show, standing out from the crowd is always a challenge. To get the attention of attendees, exhibitors rely on companies such as Guruz Media, a leading full-service marketing agency, to attract prospective customers to their booths.

Working on behalf of exhibitor Sabian Cymbals, Guruz Media developed an innovative and eye-catching 16’ tall by 8’ diameter tower of cymbals stretching from the ground to high above the trade show floor. To ensure the tower of cymbals would capture the attention of visitors no matter where they were, Guruz added a PixelFLEX LED video curtain wall as a backdrop.

Exceptionally light weight and extremely flexible, the PixelFLEX curtain was the perfect solution for creating a column of bold-colored LED lighting inside the interior of the cymbal tower that was sure to turn heads. According to Doug Webber, chief creative officer for Guruz, mission accomplished.

“Anybody can go to a trade show and rent big screens for their booth, but when it comes down to it, there has to be something that pushes it over the top to really get people to notice,” Webber said. “Whether that is something of the unexpected, or just maybe huge, like the cymbal tower. As soon as I saw the PixelFLEX screens online and how they could bend around nearly any shape or structure, I knew how I could use them at Winter NAMM to make a difference for my client at the show.”

For the cymbal tower backdrop at Winter NAMM, Guruz used 12 panels of PixelFLEX’s 20mm LED video curtain. Featuring 2500 pixels PSM (Per Square Meter) and 3240 nit brightness, PixelFLEX’s curtain provided Webber and his team a solution that was easy to set up and operate – benefits to trade show support that cannot be understated.

“We were trying to create an architectural design element that had some movement, visually speaking, going on inside the tower,” Webber said. “We found a nice piece of digital juice eye candy, colorized it to match the rest of the branding in the booth, and just allowed it to loop over and over again on the PixelFLEX screens.

With more than 200 cymbals on the tower, it was a perfect solution for filling the negative space between the cymbals,” Webber continued. “On top of that, it was super simple to install and operate. The client [Sabian] was extremely happy and competitors definitely took note. One even mentioned to us that it was the best cymbal display they had ever seen at Winter NAMM.”
