Award-winning LED video manufacturer announces New York-based MediaLight Inc. as their newest production partner with the acquisition of FLEXLite NXG LED video technology

Nashville, 10/3/2016 – With over 22 years of experience in motion picture production, MediaLight Inc. is a New York City-based lighting and video design firm in the Motion Picture industry who has seen a number of revolutionizing technology innovations. As LED video has continued to evolve its technology, designer Frank Blasko has been creating unique and exciting applications that range from dynamic LED video backgrounds to LED video lighting. Now needing a solution that can work within all the parameters of his lighting and video designs, Blasko and MediaLight Inc. have made an investment in FLEXLite NXG 3.9mm and 8.9mm LED video technology becoming the newest PixelFLEX production partner.

“I’ve been working in the motion picture industry for over two decades and we are now seeing multiple opportunities emerging for the application of LED video lighting, so we wanted to be at the forefront of that technology,” began Blasko. “Typically when you create effects for motion picture, it’s shot on blue or green screen and then all of your CG is done in post-production. By using the high-resolution FLEXLite NXG LED, we are now able to record all of the background effects on camera in real time which gives the production a more dynamic and cost effective final result.”

With one of the highest resolution displays on the market, the FLEXLite NXG is available in two panel sizes with 2.6mm-6.25mm pitch options for an even deeper layer of creativity, plus a 6.25mm full outdoor, IP65 version as well. For optimum performance, preview test modes allow video designers to be confident in the output of the FLEXLite NXG before full deployment and the LED tiles are calibrated directly out of the box to ensure perfect color and brightness. With serviceability in mind, easy access to the back of panels allows for quick and simple on-site repairs.

“During our research we looked at the different products and resolutions that PixelFLEX offered and one of the key elements was that the technology of the LED allowed it to be flicker-free on camera,” admitted Blasko. “When I initially met with the PixelFLEX team we did a few technical tests in their factory, but then they sent me sample LED panels to use on-location for additional camera tests and to evaluate the stability of the product line. When all of our testing and research was complete, we found PixelFLEX to be the most stable technology and it has been outstanding.”

“From a design perspective, I also wanted to use the FLEXLite technology as a lighting element on set as a moving, motivated source,” continued Blasko. “This was a new technique that I had been working on as LED video technology evolved and I finally have a product that makes it work. Previously, the individual RGB diodes in LED created color shading, shadowing and separation making it unable to achieve a full color spectrum wavelength. I needed a product with a full spectrum video signal so that I could use it as a lighting source to achieve any color needed through additive layering, and then also use the content as motivated lighting for our subjects. With the FLEXLite NXG technology we are now able to use the same content in the background as an actual lighting source and it gives our shots a very authentic feel on-camera and it has been a huge success.”

With the FLEXLite NXG LED video technology now in stock, Blasko and his design team immediately began putting the new system to work. Excited about the various video applications and lighting nuances the FLEXLite NXG LED video would now offer, he has experienced nothing but success for his clients on their productions.

“So far we have put the FLEXLite NXG technology to great use working on projects for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, Stella Artois, Le Perla and many more,” added Blasko. “For Stella Artois, they had a couple of ideas for concept that included the use of projection, so in our initial meeting I brought the FLEXLite NXG 3.9mm to the tech scout and did a presentation with their content from the treatment. They were so blown away that they decided to use it as the main background for the video shoot.”

“With La Perla, we introduced our new video lighting concept with the FLEXLite NXG lighting the entire video shoot with LED video content. To do this we used two 3.9mm panels as the back light, two additional 3.9mm panels for the key light, and then we used two 8.9mm panels that we bounced off a 12×12 white for our fill light. For the content, we ran a fire effect on each of the three groups of panels and then slowed down the speed of the fill light panels to give them a slightly different dramatic lighting effect.”

“On the multiple Saturday Night Live shoots, we constructed 8’x16’ screens with our FLEXLite NXG 3.9mm to create high resolution back drops with active content, instead of traditional green screen. All of the background effects were shot real time, in camera which saved time and post production cost while providing a fully controllable background for the shoot. The results were phenomenal.”

As new technology is introduced into any new market, it often takes a little time to understand its full potential. Believing that LED video lighting is going to be a staple of the future for the motion picture industry, MediaLight Inc. along with IATSE Local 52 have created new positions within the Electrical Department as “MediaLight” LED technicians and programmers. Together they have implemented a training program specifically for these lighting technicians using the FLEXLite NXG.

“We want to keep the electrical department at the forefront of lighting technology and continue to push the boundaries of Cinematic Lighting,” concluded Blasko. “Looking forward, the potential of LED video lighting in the motion picture industry is unlimited and the wide range of PixelFLEX products can fit into any application, which is a tremendous advantage. PixelFLEX, has done a great job of supporting any unique or specialized applications we have developed, and you’re not going to find a better group of individuals who are dedicated to supporting their integrated partners.”

With the recent acquisition of a FLEXCurve 6mm LED video system, PixelFLEX is proud to announce Crescent Events as its newest production rental partner

Nashville, 9/7/2016 – With over 90 years of combined experience, Crescent Events is a premier event management company which produces live events nationwide from their offices in Charlotte, NC and Oxnard, CA. Dedicated to providing exceptional service, technical expertise and a high level of creativity, Crescent Events recently made a decision to bolster their rental inventory with an LED video system that would allow them to offer their clients a complete live event production package. Through this acquisition of the award-winning FLEXCurve 6mm LED video system, Nashville-based PixelFLEX is proud to announce Crescent Events as its newest production rental partner.

“At Crescent Events we have been working with LED video for a few years now and we have begun seeing more of our clients asking about the creative stage design possibilities LED video can create,” began Chris Gerhart, Crescent Events Founder and President. “As we started taking a deeper look at the different LED manufacturers we knew we wanted to be in the 6mm pixel pitch range, but then we also wanted a system that could operate in both indoor and outdoor event designs. When we found the FLEXCurve from PixelFLEX it had everything we needed plus we really liked the creative possibilities of the curved aspects, the touring quality, and its ease of serviceability.”

The Parnelli Award-winning FLEXCurve breaks all barriers in the rigid tile category through an innovative dual wing curving LED tile. With a 4.8mm – 12mm pitch that is designed for both indoor and outdoor applications, the FLEXCurve is available to meet the needs of those looking for high definition LED displays while still maintaining the unique flexible characteristics of PixelFLEX LED video screens. Designed with rigging flexibility in mind, FLEXCurve LED video screens feature easy top-mounting, “Rig and Click” vertical interconnect, hassle-free alignment, plus quick horizontal interconnect and curve setup.

“With our client base we are now mostly using the FLEXCurve LED video system for creative scenic elements in various column configurations with dynamic patterns and text elements,” continued Gerhart. “Through the addition of the FLEXCurve system to our rental inventory, we have an expansive technical element to give our event designs a new energy whether indoors or outside.  We have already had many clients comment on how crisp and clean the content reads and working with the PixelFLEX team has been a great experience.”

As a live event production designer, Gerhart also knows that it’s the performance of a product during the load-in and programming process that can often show its real value. Needing the FLEXCurve LED video system to operate consistently and efficiently, he is confident the design behind the system will stand the test of time.

“Our typical load-in for an event is about one day and it is extremely important that once we are onsite everything works the way it is designed,” explained Gerhart. “The FLEXCurve system is extremely easy to set up and program onsite, but if you ever do need to replace a module, PixelFLEX has taken the time to design a very easy module replacement system. When programming, the entire system is very user-friendly and makes it simple to add media servers into the mix so we can create custom content for even more dynamic effects.”

With the FLEXCurve LED video system now being used by Crescent Events on their production designs nationwide, Gerhart is also enthusiastic about the design opportunities the FLEXCurve will open up in the future.

“We are very excited about the future possibilities that the purchase of the FLEXCurve LED video system will provide for Crescent Events,” concluded Gerhart. “With the ability to go outside and introduce a curved LED video design as well, we will now be able work on more festivals and small concerts which is a new shift for Crescent Events. The FLEXCurve really is the final piece of the puzzle for us to be a complete live event production provider and we are proud to be the newest PixelFLEX production rental partner.”

Supervising art director and segment producer Korey Washington uses the award-winning FLEXCurve 8mm LED technology supplied by Atlanta Audio Visual

Nashville, 8/18/2016 – Held inside the New Orleans Theater at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the McDonald’s 365 Black Awards, helmed by Andrew Logan, Creative Director from powerhouse agency Walton Issacson, recognizes extraordinary people and franchise owner/operators whose vision, compassion, and courage have a significant local, national or global impact. Held in conjunction with the ESSENCE Festival, supervising art director and segment producer Korey Washington was brought on to give each portion of the show its own unique look for the BET broadcast. To do so, he wanted to broaden the scope of the production design using LED video, and so working with Atlanta Audio Visual he chose the award-winning FLEXCurve 8mm LED from Nashville-based PixelFLEX.

“This is my second year working with the 365 Black Awards and I was brought on by the production designer Brent Trammel to create specialty looks for the different artists and internal segments of the show,” began Washington. “I wanted to create an environment that would open up the event design through visual and visceral movement in the peripheral of the camera. One of the reasons I wanted to use the FLEXCurve 8mm LED technology was that it would allow me to really broaden the scope of what the camera sees and it was the perfect fit for what we wanted to do.”

The Parnelli Award-winning FLEXCurve breaks all barriers in the rigid tile category through an innovative dual wing curving LED tile. With an 8mm – 12mm pitch that is designed for both indoor and outdoor applications, the FLEXCurve is available to meet the needs of those looking for high definition LED displays while still maintaining the unique flexible characteristics of PixelFLEX LED video screens. Designed with rigging flexibility in mind, FLEXCurve LED video screens feature easy top-mounting, “Rig and Click” vertical interconnect, hassle-free alignment, plus quick horizontal interconnect and curve setup.

The performance area of the stage set we created inside the New Orleans Convention Center is approximately 20 feet wide so we needed to create a video design that could be expansive depending upon what was happening on stage,” continued Washington. “The production was shot with 6 cameras so we decided to use the FLEXCurve as not only a center stage LED video element, but we also had LED video towers stage left and right as well. The center potion measured 24’ wide x 12’ high, and the side towers were approximately 5’ wide x 12’ high, with about 4’ of negative space between them. Beyond these three, we then spaced out yet another LED tower approximately 3’ wide by 12’ high, and together all of this gave me purposeful negative space. On some shots it literally made the wall seem to be about 35’ wide, but since we had the negative space it completely broadened the perceived scope and created the illusion of a much larger space in the other camera shots.”

With the FLEXCurve LED video walls on site, Washington and his crew were quickly able to complete the load-in process and then moved onto refining the details of the design for the show. Knowing he would have to adjust for some camera angles, the FLEXCurve articulation capabilities provided him with yet another design advantage.

“I have had the opportunity to work with many of the LED video technologies and when creating a design you really have to choose the right product that will serve your design best,” admitted Washington. “One of the things I loved about the FLEXCurve was it allowed me to do something very helpful to overcome light refraction by adjusting the last curve by only 5% so the side camera didn’t get a reflection off the face of the wall. With this versatility, I could go into the truck and have them pull up all the camera shots and see the exact LED video wall design that we wanted to see.”

With the show almost ready to begin, Washington was excited to see the design in action, and he was confident that they had chosen the exact LED video product needed based on the recommendation from PixelFLEX production rental partner Atlanta Audio Visual.

“I’ve worked with Atlanta Audio Visual on several different occasions and they are really keen at approaching projects from a technical side and being innovative with the products they put on a project,” added Washington. “Their inventory is relevant for a number of different applications and no matter what type of design I am working on, they have the precise technology I need.”

Now that the McDonald’s 365 Black Awards have drawn to a close, the production will air on September 1, 2016, on BET. Thinking back in what he was able to accomplish, Washington is quick to note that the FLEXCurve LED video gave the production a higher-level of artistry through not only its eye-catching performance, but also its innovative product design.

“Simply put, the FLEXCurve as a product allowed me to elevate my creativity in many dynamic ways,” concluded Washington. “In this design the LED walls were the animated elements in the room and they gave me the ability to quickly transform the stage environment. I also love that the FLEXCurve has a dense substrate so that when things go to black, they are truly black. With other walls, I sometimes have to spend more time dealing with what’s behind it, instead of what’s on it, but that’s not the case with the FLEXCurve because it always looked good.”

Dallas-based Reflect implements FLEXLite NXG 3.9mm LED video technology with front and rear serviceable panels into a new and engaging retail experience

Nashville, 8/15/2016 – As a leading lifestyle brand focused on making yoga and fitness accessible for everyone, Gaiam currently has a worldwide network of approximately 38,000 retail environments with 18,000 of those located within existing retail locations. So when Macy’s began a new initiative to transform a retail location into the “Store of the Future,” they approached Gaiam with an opportunity to create a completely new retail environment meant to achieve a higher level of customer engagement. Understanding exactly how they wanted to capture the attention of Macy’s shoppers, Gaiam began working with Reflect who chose to incorporate FLEXLite NXG 3.9mm LED video technology from Nashville-based PixelFLEX into the exciting, new retail environment.

“As a fitness and wellness brand partner of Macy’s, we were very excited about the opportunity to take part in their technology renovation and feature a space in their ‘Store of the Future,’” said Hannah Gilmore, Gaiam’s Visual Merchandising Manager. “The primary objective of the redesign was to demonstrate what the future of the Macy’s retail experience is going to be, so we truly had to make an impact with our design. We have used LED video in the past to engage our consumers, but never at this scale. As this was the ‘Store of the Future,’ we needed state-of-the-art digital technology and the most effective product; the FLEXLite NXG was the perfect LED video solution.”

Beginning the design process of their innovative retail environment, Gaiam was introduced to Dallas-based Reflect who has been working with Macy’s for a number of years as their instore digital media partner.

“Gaiam was a brand that we had not yet engaged with so we were excited to be able to work with them to provide the ideal LED video solution,” explained Matt Schmitt, President and Co-Founder of Reflect. “To get started we brought in our solutions engineer, Chas Thornhill, to work on the initial design. After meeting with the Gaiam team, we knew the LED video product had to install easily and be able to operate efficiently in a retail store environment with a smaller pixel pitch for a high definition display. We then spoke with PixelFLEX to find out what LED video solutions might be available, and we found that solution in the 3.9mm FLEXLite NXG with both front and rear serviceable panels.”

With one of the highest resolution displays on the market, the FLEXLite NXG is now available in two sizes with 2.6mm-6.25mm pitch options for an even deeper layer of creativity, plus a 6.25mm full outdoor, IP65 version as well. For optimum performance, FLEXLite NXG tiles are calibrated directly out of the box to ensure perfect color and brightness; and with serviceability in mind, easy access to the back of panels allows for quick and simple on-site repairs.

Now that the LED video technology solution was in place, the design team got to work installing the FLEXLite NXG into the Gaiam retail environment.

“We were essentially given a blank canvas to work with and we wanted the digital experience to be a main focal point, drawing customers into our space,” Gilmore continued. “The FLEXLite NXG LED video wall ended up being about 6 feet wide by 10 feet tall. Once the grid structure was installed the LED tiles quickly locked together creating a seamless digital wall.”

“On the project, there was a bit of a tight timeline and PixelFLEX really went above and beyond to meet our deadlines which was extremely helpful,” added Schmitt. “At Reflect, we continually work with strategic hardware partners to identify solutions that are beneficial for our clients and in creating these partnerships, we look for a company that is partner-centric. It always works better when we can bring in a consultative partner for a fully integrated project offering and PixelFLEX always seems to go above and beyond. Because of this, whenever there is an opportunity for an LED video wall experience, we now lead with PixelFLEX.”

With the LED video wall in place, it was time to give life to the new retail visual experience using the motion graphic content created by Gaiam specifically for the Macy’s “Store of the Future.”

Gilmore explained further, “The motion graphic included User Generated Content from Gaiam gurus across the nation along with a custom video that showcases Macy’s-exclusive apparel and hardgoods. We wanted the presentation to show how anyone can easily incorporate yoga and fitness into their individual lifestyle. The final product was a 5-minute video that relates to a broad audience. The FLEXLite NXG LED video technology truly provided the seamless integration we sought and it was crucial in making our retail experience cohesive.”

As retail environments continue to evolve in order to compete with the growing trend of online shopping, retailers are constantly looking at which technologies will draw consumers into their store front locations.  With the introduction of new technologies, not only are they able to create these unique environments, but they are also now able to conveniently update their branding content throughout all their locations.

“At Reflect we have seen a tremendous rise in the interest of implementing visual digital experiences into the retail environment,” admitted Schmitt. “With our core product offering ReflectView™, we allow clients to load and update this visual content across many locations quickly and easily, but we also need a hardware partner throughout the process. Through the LED video solutions provided by PixelFLEX, we are not only able to complete the design process, but we can now offer a truly engaging medium that provides our clients with a superior visual experience.”

“When we finished the installation and saw the final video for the first time, we were all amazed by the brightness and vibrancy of the image; you could literally see our digital wall from multiple vantage points throughout the store,” concluded Gilmore. “In this day and age of interactive digital experiences, LED displays are the future of retail design, and I can see PixelFLEX LED video technology being an integral part of that future.”

An American-based LED manufacturer, PixelFLEX offers creative solutions, reliable products, and dependable service for our industry-leading LED display technologies and solutions. Driven towards excellence to meet your standards, PixelFLEX offers a one-of-a-kind design for your tour, event or installation through our award-winning line of LED video walls and video screens. Working with architects, designers, engineers and consultants, PixelFLEX is proud to develop custom LED solutions for each and every customer while also providing top-tier customer support throughout the entire experience. Gilmore concluded; “this was our first time working with Reflect and PixelFLEX and I look forward to our continued partnership in the future.”

MSI Productions tech director Tom Bollard uses FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm LED video technology to create a dynamic and immersive entrance to the event inside the San Diego Convention Center

Nashville, 8/8/2016 – Held in conjunction with its annual All-Star Game, the Major League Baseball FanFest provides fans with an opportunity to celebrate the players, the game and the community of baseball as a whole. This year, under a mandate from the new Commissioner, the production team behind FanFest, BaAM Productions, was asked reenergize the fan experience inside the San Diego Convention Center. Having worked with the event producers for the last 25 years, MSI Productions tech director Tom Bollard knew that one of the key elements to the reinvigorated design would be a truly immersive LED video entrance which he chose to bring to life with FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm LED video technology from Nashville-based PixelFLEX.

“We have been involved with the MLB All-Star FanFest since the event first took place in San Diego back in 1992,” began Bollard. “This year the new MLB Commissioner wanted to breathe new life into the event and the large, curved HD LED video entrance designed by BaAM Productions would be one of the main design features to really bring a higher level of excitement. Having worked with PixelFLEX on another production, we knew they would have the ideal product solution for the curved LED video entrance and that solution was a FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm LED video wall.”

FLEXLite Plus from PixelFLEX is one of the highest resolution curve-able LED displays on the market and is capable of a 15-degree curve in any direction. With its bright, dense display and high refresh rate, FLEXLite Plus photographs and videos extremely well and its tiles are calibrated directly out of the box to help decrease failure, and insure perfect color and brightness of your LED screen.

“At the entrance, the producers wanted the fans to have a feeling of walking through an immersive tunnel, and at the end of the tunnel they would see the world’s largest baseball,” continued Bollard. “Understanding our guests were going to walk inches away from the screen, we needed an incredibly high-definition display in a tight 2-3mm pitch configuration, but the product still had to give us the curving aspects needed. After speaking with PixelFLEX to discuss all the product performance capabilities, we felt very comfortable that our best product choice would be the FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm technology.”

Now getting to work on the construction of the curved LED wall entrance, Bollard and his team took a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, to meet with the specialists at PixelFLEX. At the factory, they were able to not only able to collaborate on the final design together, but they were also able solve any potential challenges which may have occurred in San Diego during the load-in.

“For the build-out, we shipped PixelFLEX our custom, curved truss structure and then my production manager and I flew out to Nashville to their headquarters to create a full-size mock-up in their shop,” explained Bollard. “Because we were able to do this, we solved a lot of design challenges that would have been difficult to overcome onsite. This was a tremendous advantage and allowed us a relaxed, on-time installation in San Diego with ample programming time, which made the project even more stunning.”

With the curved LED entrance now in place inside the San Diego Convention Center, Bollard and the team began the process of loading the custom content created by the MLB design team which would showcase the true effectiveness of the FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm LED video wall.

Bollard added, “For the content, MLB Productions created a custom video presentation which played alongside a 5.1 surround sound audio track, and from the moment we turned the screens on we knew we had hit a home run. They were so dynamic and the graphic display looked absolutely incredible. The producers of the show were completely blown away with how the final product turned out and it was exactly what they wanted the MLB FanFest experience to be.”

As the final out of the 2016 All-Star Game was made, the American League bested the National League with a 4-2 win. But looking back on the FanFest experience, Bollard is quick to admit that while the American League may have won the game, it was the assistance of the team at PixelFLEX that allowed the fans to come away with the ultimate victory.

“PixelFLEX has a variety of great products but more importantly they have many talented project managers and technicians who personally connect with your event,” concluded Bollard. “If you have a project that is unique, or maybe even something that has never even been done before, PixelFLEX has the vision to make your design a reality and I can’t say enough good things about their team of talented professionals.”

Visual Productions LLC utilizes the award-winning FLEXCurtain HD LED video technology to design an energetic and dynamic visual experience for the annual Gala

Nashville, 8/1/2016 – Held on the eve of the Kentucky Derby, Unbridled Eve is a black tie-optional event which pairs a VIP cocktail reception and dinner with live entertainment provided by celebrity musical artists. Located annually inside the Galt House Hotel Grand Ballroom, Marcus Cambron and his team at Visual Productions have been creating the evening’s production design over the last 18 years working with a number of event sponsors. Knowing this year the organizers wanted to capitalize on the performance capabilities of LED video, Cambron turned to Nashville-based PixelFLEX who provided him with FLEXCurtain HD LED video technology to create an energetic and dynamic visual experience.

“Every year at this event our production design changes a little bit to keep the show engaging for the guests, and so this year we really wanted to use LED video to give the show a new look,” began Cambron. “I first used the PixelFLEX technology on a design last year for 100 Black Men and it worked so well that I have now used the technology on several different occasions. I love how the PixelFLEX product lines are both affordable and offer the highest performance quality, and the FLEXCurtain HD LED certainly lived up to all our expectations.”

The 2015 Parnelli Award-nominated FLEXCurtain HD is a lightweight and flexible LED video screen ideal for high resolution video playback and video effects for indoor and outdoor applications. Its hi-res LED video can be driven by any DVI output, and the multi-directional, flexible design of the FLEXCurtain HD makes it easy to store and transport. FLEXCurtain HD is 60-90% lighter than the competition, and using the quick-lock system, 500 square feet of FLEXCurtain HD can be setup and broken-down in under 15 minutes.

“This year our stage set up was 42’ wide x 24’ deep and so we used a 16’ wide x 8’ high FLEXCurtain HD configuration to really fill up the space behind the performers,” continued Cambron. “Prior to the event, we asked the artists for any specific content they might like to use, and then we generated the remaining custom content needed for the event design, which really allowed us to be extremely creative with the visual experience.”

With their video solution now in place, Cambron and the team moved into the load-in phase of Unbridled Eve. Understanding that the production schedule would not be conducive to technical challenges, Cambron would rely heavily on the dependability he knows to be true of PixelFLEX LED technology.

Cambron explained, “For the load-in, we actually come in on the Wednesday prior to set-up for the 100 Black Men event that takes place the day before Unbridled Eve. With a small crew on site, the LED wall had to go together quickly, and it had to be dependable because this year we featured an all-star musical line-up who would all be using the LED wall in their performances. When dealing with events such as this, the total production cost is a big factor and the FLEXCurtain is simple to set-up, has less wiring, and it’s lighter than many on the market which all saves you on total cost making this cutting-edge technology affordable for just about everyone.”

As the production was ready to get underway, the 2016 Unbridled Eve Gala included performances by Robin Thicke, John Elefante, Dennis D. Young, JD Shelborne and Winona Judd. With so many talented artists taking the stage, Cambron was excited to see the response from both the crowd and the event organizers, because he knew they had achieved the new look desired for the show.

“Simply put, the FLEXCurtain HD LED video wall brought a much deeper visual experience to Unbridled Eve that we would not have had otherwise,” concluded Cambron. “The LED wall really gave the performers a great backlit look and it made the production design seem more of a complete show. Nowadays in production design, people always want a little bit more and the FLEXCurtain HD really gave us that heightened sense of visual excitement for Unbridled Eve.”

TLS Productions provides a complete turnkey design solution for the number one kid’s entertainment brand using FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm LED video technology

Nashville, July 28th, 2016 – Held inside the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, the 2016 Licensing Expo is the world’s premier brand, character and art marketplace that connects owners and agents with retailers, licensees and manufacturers. Estimated as a $262.9 billion industry, exhibitors must create a captivating visitor experience in order for these connections to be made. So when Nickelodeon, the world’s number-one entertainment brand for kids, approached TLS Productions Inc. about creating an inviting and memorable booth experience for their guests, they knew LED video would play a significant role in the design solution, and that LED solution was FLEXLite Plus 3.9mm technology from PixelFLEX.

“LED video technology is becoming very inundated into the consumer environmental experience and therefore a lot of our clients are looking for a heightened LED presence in almost everything they do,” began Brad Hayes, TLS Productions President. “With more projects now requiring an HD LED video solution, we are very excited about the opportunities to work with PixelFLEX because their products allow us to generate a higher level of creativity and push the envelope of what is possible for our clients.”

Getting started on the Nickelodeon booth design, Assistant Production Manager Bobby Glowacki and Account Executive Cameo Stancliff began speaking with the Nickelodeon team to understand the full scope of the project, which would include a comprehensive production design.

“When Cameo and I were initially discussing the design with Nickelodeon, they were looking for truly cohesive booth experience and they needed a turnkey production company who could handle lighting, audio, rigging and LED video,” explained Glowacki. “For the video portion, they asked that the LED wall to be a focal point to showcase clips of their programming, but at the top of every hour we would transition into a captivating visitor experience called ‘Slime Time’. On this cue, the LED wall would break into an ‘interruption’ screen and start oozing green slime which all coincided with audio and lighting cues for an added layer of excitement. To make this work, we knew the LED video wall would have to be bright with a high resolution so that everything popped off the screen, and the FLEXLite Plus worked great.”

With new and improved features, FLEXLite Plus from PixelFLEX is one of the highest resolution curve-able LED displays on the market, capable of a 15-degree curve in any direction. Because of its bright, dense display and high refresh rate, FLEXLite Plus photographs and videos smoothly and its tiles are calibrated directly out of the box to help decrease failure, and insure perfect color and brightness of your LED screen. Additionally, the preview test button allows for easy viewing of signal and power connections.

“I really like the panel size of the FLEXLite Plus and it’s very lightweight and quiet too,” added Glowacki. “The final LED wall ended up being about 4’ tall and 16’ wide, using 14 total panels. During the load-in, we literally had about 3-4 inches of space to work when installing the wall, but it all went very quickly and efficiently, and it truly made the booth design a seamless integration between lighting, audio and video for a complete visitor experience.”

With the Licensing Expo now concluded, TLS Productions is proud to be one of the newest production rental partners for the award-winning line of PixelFLEX LED video technology. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, TLS Productions specializes in creating live event and trade show designs for clients across multiple industries, and they are excited to now be offering PixelFLEX as a primary LED video solution.

“Earlier this year, TLS Productions and PixelFLEX went to Los Angeles for a series of PixelFLEX product demonstrations for some of our biggest clients and the events were a tremendous success,” admitted Carl Kedzierski, TLS Productions Director of Marketing. “When evaluating new technologies, it is not necessarily what interests us, but more so about what interests our clients, and our clients loved the PixelFLEX line of LED technology.”

“The biggest draw to the PixelFLEX technology for me is that the technology works and the people work too,” concluded Hayes. “In this industry, you can get gear from just about anybody, but for us, it’s really about the people and process of working together for the mutual success of making clients happy. In doing this, the PixelFLEX team is an ideal production partner for TLS Productions.”
